The Cost of Typhoon Lawin: Casiguran rice fields

As we wait for more word from our field team who is en route to Penablanca, Cagayan, we look back to Casiguran where the farmers are one of those most affected by the recent typhoons that passed through the area.

The rice fields were almost ready for harvest, but destroyed by the typhoons Karen and Lawin. Farmers are one of the most affected by the impacts of climate change, from drought to super typhoons. Their yield, livelihood and their own food supply and ours are at risk with the changing climate and patterns. While the impacts of climate change are expected to worsen, the farmers remain to be resilient.
